Frequently Asked Questions

Does a Tier 1 license mean a broker is trusted and safe?
Mostly — but with one critical catch. A Tier 1 license (FCA, ASIC, CySEC, BaFin) means strict capital requirements, segregated client funds, audits and a compensation scheme. However, that license only protects clients of that specific legal entity. Many brokers hold an FCA license for their UK company while onboarding Asian clients through a separate offshore entity in Seychelles, Belize or Vanuatu — where none of those protections apply. Always check which entity appears in your client agreement, not the logos on the homepage.
What do Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 mean in the results?
Tier 1 (FCA, ASIC, CySEC, BaFin, MAS, NFA and similar) — strong protection: strict supervision, segregated funds, and compensation schemes such as the UK's FSCS (up to £85,000) or CySEC's ICF (up to €20,000). Tier 2 (FSCA, DFSA, FMA New Zealand, Labuan, CMA) — genuine oversight but weaker compensation coverage. Tier 3 (Seychelles, Belize, Mauritius, Vanuatu, BVI, Comoros, SVG) — light-touch offshore licensing or mere company registration, with minimal to no protection if something goes wrong.
Why do you warn about "which entity holds your account"?
Because it decides your legal protection. Most global brokers run several companies under one brand: a UK entity for UK clients, an EU entity for Europeans — and an offshore entity for everyone else, including most traders in Asia and Bangladesh. If your account sits with the Seychelles or Vanuatu entity, the broker's FCA or ASIC license does not cover you, no matter how prominently it appears in advertising. The entity named in your client agreement is the only one that matters.
Are prop firms regulated like forex brokers?
No. Prop firms are not regulated brokers — they sell simulated trading evaluations, so no financial regulator supervises them or guarantees your payouts. That is why our tool shows company registration, years operating and payout track record for prop firms instead of license tiers. Judge a prop firm on transparency and verified payout history — and remember 80–100 prop firms closed in 2024 alone, so always re-check recent payout proof before buying a challenge.
What does "(verify)" mean next to a license number?
It means the regulator and entity are confirmed, but we have not yet re-confirmed that exact license number on the official register — sources conflicted or the register was being updated at our last review. Every result includes a direct link to the official register so you can confirm any number yourself in under two minutes. We never publish license numbers copied from review sites alone.
A broker isn't in your database — does that mean it's a scam?
Not necessarily. We only list brokers and prop firms whose details we have personally verified, and we add more every month. But be careful: if a broker is heavily advertised in Bangladesh or Asia and you cannot find any license on an official regulator register yourself, treat that as a serious red flag. Our step-by-step guide shows you exactly how to check any broker in five minutes, with links to every major register.

Disclaimer: License data last reviewed July 2026 from official broker disclosures and regulator registers. Regulatory status can change at any time — always confirm on the official register links provided before depositing funds. Entries marked “(verify)” are pending final register confirmation. Prop firms are not regulated brokers; they sell simulated trading evaluations. This tool is for educational purposes and is not financial advice.
